		<description>Good question, Janet. Shame is a result of too close proximity to the real or objet petit a. This is why a minimal distance is necessary. But this is also why shame can't really be avoided. I think guilt would result from blocking the Real out completely, such as if Harry Potter had spent his whole life staring into the mirror of Erised. Also notice how Harry has to deal with the shame he feels for his father in book 5. But instead of doing something to avoid that shame, he needs to act from the place where it is generated.</description>

		<description>Great proposal, imho. Now... "maintaining minimal distance..." So is this where the shame comes in, at THIS minmal distance, or is the shame (going back to your earlier post) from being "too proximate" to the imaginary object without having reconciled it with the real?</description>
