You're right to point out that in Christian theology, we have a rupturing of the wholeness or finality of death by the wholeness of Christ's life, resurrected body, etc... In this vein, I'm trying to point out that Vazquez lacks that foresight; but that's not all I'm trying to show. Even despite that, Vazquez subordinates life to death.. you could say he makes life death's shadow. 

I want to say, and will when I post again (about Andy Goldsworthy), that there's a more helpful way of conceiving of life and death in which life is, as Gandalf says in The Return of the King, "white shores; and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise." I think artists like Goldsworthy are able to see through death to newness of life... but that's for next time.</description>
